CSEE 2016 is over and it's time to get back in the field! Our team is busy covering ground and sampling before this 'good' weather season disappears.
Here's a time-lapse video of Travis sampling a vegetation plot at one of our snowshoe hare trap locations, video length 33 secs actual time 2.5 hrs ---> vey intensive sampling but good data is key!

Aside from vegetation, lots of other 'things' are popping up! Mushrooms! In the last few weeks fungi has been making appearance on the forest floor, along decomposing trees and on living trees. As well, your friendly neighbourhood protist has been roaming around looking for food.
It's always a fun time when something unexpected shows up in our snowshoe hare traps. For instance, an endangered Newfoundland pine marten. Park Canada came out to check for pit tags.
